How long will the race take?
The race will take anywhere from 4hrs to 8 hrs depending on level of fitness
What sort of bike do I need?
A mountain bike with suspension is the preferred choice
How far from Hanmer township is the Start / Finish
From Hanmer head over Jacks Pass. The start line is at Malings Pass Entrance (approximately 35km from Hanmer township) . The finish line is at the former St James Homestead (around 15km from Hanmer Township)
Will food be available at the start /finish?
Not at the start, but some complimentary food will be at the finish line
Can I register on the Friday night before the race?
Yes you can – if arranged prior with the organisers in Hanmer
Where is the registration venue?
The registration venue and to pick up race packs will be in at the start line from 8am- 8.45am on 2 March at Malings Pass Entrance.
When can I register?
Registration will be available from the Friday night before the event with prior arrangement with the organisers. Registration commences at 8am at Malings Pass Entrance. Registration on the day is not permitted.
What compulsory gear do I need to take?
We will be advising of the weather conditions prior to the event, however be prepared for extreme heat or cold temperatures.
As a minimum we will be requiring you to carry:

Waterproof jacket and polypropylene top

Water – capable of hydration for the time you are expected to be riding

Food (Minimum of snack bar or equivalent sports supplements such as leppin)

Spare tubes or equivalents for flat tires

Emergency Survival Blanket

Water is essential and we recommend appropriate sports isotonic sports supplements to assist with energy levels
When is the race briefing?
Race briefing will be held 15min prior to the race start - this is compulsory for all competitors.
Will there be drinks stations along the track – what will there be?
Sport drinks will be available at Scotties Hut and St James Homestead.
Is a pre-race bike maintenance check required?
Yes, we will confirm how this is to be carried out before the event.
Can I ride halfway as a team?
No – the nature of the terrain and accessibility prevents a half way stop
The team event is a combined teams race consisting of 2 or more competitors for the length of the race. The combined time of each team rider will be calculated to determine the overall combined time.
When and where is prize giving?
Prize giving at this stage will be held after the event at the finish line at St James Homestead at 4pm
